LALRISE START SC is a liquid inoculant based on a plant growth-promoting microbe (PGPM) that increases crop establishment through improved root vigour and nutrient availability. This PGPM solubilizes phosphorus from organic and inorganic reservoirs, which promotes growth in young plants and increases crop homogeneity, root mass growth and yields.

Mode of Action
How does LALRISE START SC solubilise phosphorus?
The Bacillus velezensis in LALRISE START SC is a Gram-positive, spore-forming bacterium that benefits plants through its production of enzymes, bioactive peptides, and metabolites. It is particularly notable for its phosphate solubilising abilities, which are crucial since most soil phosphorus exists in forms plants cannot directly use. The Bacillus velezensis in LALRISE START SC solubilises phosphorus from both organic and inorganic sources, potentially increasing phosphorus availability in the soil by up to 28%.
Bacillus velezensis employ multiple mechanisms to transform unavailable phosphorus into plant-accessible forms through both mineralisation and solubilisation processes. This phosphate solubilisation occurs through four key mechanisms:
- Organic Acid Production:
The bacterium secretes organic acids (gluconic, citric, and oxalic) that lower soil pH and dissolve insoluble phosphate compounds. These acids create chelating reactions with phosphates bound to calcium, iron, and aluminium. - Enzymatic Activities:
The production of phosphatase enzymes, especially acid phosphatases, breaks down organic phosphorus compounds into forms plants can utilise. - Secondary Metabolite Production:
Bacillus velezensis produces siderophores that chelate metals, facilitating phosphate release from mineral complexes. Additional metabolites also contribute to phosphate solubilisation. - Chemical Transformations:
The bacterium converts insoluble phosphates (like calcium phosphate) to soluble forms through proton exchange and other chemical reactions.
Application
Application of LALRISE START SC should focus on achieving effective inoculation of the target plants rhizosphere. The rhizosphere is the region of soil or substrate that is directly influenced by plant root secretions.
LALRISE START SC can be applied through:
- Soil spray
- Drench
- Root dip
- Seed treatment
Application rates vary based on method and crop type, so it is important to follow the guidelines provided on the label and in the technical data sheet.
